Tugba's work is related to tissue clearing, which is an approach allowing rendering brain, embryo and other highly scattering tissues semi-transparent. Thanks to this technology light can penetrate trough the otherwise optically dense tissue samples allowing the visualization of neurone structures. Tugba works together with David who is developing a novel microscope device for 3D imaging of large tissue samples. Her post-doc project started in October 2019 and is based on a cooperation between the "Spray & imaging" group at the Department of Physics and the "BRAINS" unit headed by Prof. Deniz Kirik at the Department of Experimental Medical Science, Lund University.
Tugba graduated her Ph.D. in 2019 at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine (Turkey). She studied neuroscience and especially neural mechanisms of epilepsy and its interaction with Parkinson’s disease.
